Naylor appointed as Chukchi Campus interim director

Minnie Naylor has been appointed to serve as the interim director of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Chukchi Campus in Kotzebue. Naylor is originally from Kotzebue and has family from Noatak and Shishmaref. She holds master鈥檚 and bachelor鈥檚 degrees in rural development from 性欲社. Naylor is joining Chukchi Campus from 性欲社鈥檚 Rural Student Services, where she previously served as an academic advisor.

性欲社's giant climate stripes boldly proclaim Arctic change

The International Arctic Research Center is showing its stripes with a bold 40-foot-long hallway installation. The myriad of red and blue vertical bands makes a rainbow-like bar code representing Arctic temperatures from 1900 to 2021. The trend in the Arctic is remarkable. Every year since 1995 shows red, meaning that annual temperatures have been above average for nearly three decades.

Alaska lexicon sinks in over the years

When my little Ford pickup chugged into Alaska 36 years ago this month, I didn't know a wheel dog from a dog salmon. You could have told me the North Slope was connected to the Panhandle by the Chain and I'd have believed you. I could have avoided that awkwardness if I had possessed the Dictionary of Alaskan English.听
