NASA and HAARP conclude asteroid experiment

A powerful transmitter in remote Alaska sent long wavelength radio signals into space Dec. 27, 2022, with the purpose of bouncing them off an asteroid to learn about its interior. Results of the experiment at the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program research facility at Gakona could aid efforts to defend Earth from larger asteroids that could cause significant damage.

"IGNITE" Professional Development Workshop

The Alaska NSF EPSCoR and Alaska NIH INBRE programs are holding a workshop at the Wedgewood Resort in Fairbanks from 10:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Jan. 11 and 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 12. The workshop will have three separate tracks for faculty, staff and students (both graduate and upper-division undergraduates). Topics covered include budgeting, finding appropriate funding sources, creating an Individual Development Plan, career paths, and navigating award letters. Μύis required. Barn-Raising: Start-to-Finish course design in Canvas

Join ΠΤΣϋΙη eCampus instructional designers for a facilitated β€œBarn-raising,” which lays out a set of tasks and deadlines to get your course online and ready to go in just three days from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily on Jan. 10-12. Participants may joinΜύvia Zoom or in-person, in ΠΤΣϋΙη eCampus's conference room. This is a Canvas-specific barn-raising, so participants will be expected to build in the Canvas LMS. !


Learn to strength train in 2023 with Nanook Rec

Nanook Recreation offers a variety of strength training group fitness classes free with membership. All classes are six weeks and meet twice a week. or at the SRC front desk at 907-474-5886.

Save the date: May 6 is Commencement 2023

ΠΤΣϋΙη's 101st commencement is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, at the Carlson Center. There will be one ceremony this year. Students who are expecting to walk this year, should apply to graduate by Feb. 1, 2023. After that date the fee rises to $80; March 1 is the final deadline. There will be a Q&A session at CTC from 4-6 p.m. on Jan. 26. 2023.
