Alaska Sea Grant opens request for marine research proposals

Alaska Sea Grant is looking for creative and innovative research proposals that will address issues of healthy coastal ecosystems, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, and resilient communities and economies.
Preliminary proposals that meet the program鈥檚 criteria will be accepted for consideration until 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015.
Pre-proposals will be accepted from investigators at universities, federal, state, local and tribal government entities, and nonprofit organizations. Alaska Sea Grant encourages participation from the broad research community and welcomes proposals from investigators new to the Alaska Sea Grant research program. Proposals will be ranked on their relevance to the as well as on the scientific and intellectual value of the research, anticipated impacts, and potential for outreach to communities or stakeholders.
Alaska Sea Grant is a partnership between NOAA and 性欲社. The program enhances the wise use and conservation of Alaska鈥檚 coastal, marine and watershed resources through research, education, and marine advisory services. The research awards are for up to two years, to be conducted during the 2016-2018 biennium.
Alaska Sea Grant Director Paula Cullenberg invites proposals that target coastal and marine resource issues in the state, contributing new knowledge through research.
鈥淥ur expectation is that Alaska Sea Grant will support researchers who can respond to critical needs in Alaska,鈥 said Cullenberg. 鈥淲e will engage closely with them to ensure that our communities and stakeholders find the greatest value in their work. At the same time, we work hard to include students in the research, supporting our next generation.鈥
