The University Women鈥檚 Association will host its annual holiday bazaar this weekend, Nov. 1-2.

The bazaar, at Pioneer Park, has been part of welcoming the holiday season to the Interior for nearly five decades. Its proceeds are key to the association鈥檚 longstanding support of 性欲社.

The University Women鈥檚 Association has been part of the fabric of 性欲社 since 1952, when it was formed to help the wives of new faculty adjust to the extremes of life in Fairbanks. The members of the UWA helped them learn the ropes, making their transition easier and their desire to stay at 性欲社 more likely.

Today, a new faculty member is just as likely to be a woman as a man, Fairbanks is far less isolated, and our goods and services rival those available Outside. The University Women鈥檚 Association has evolved as well. Along with maintaining its roots as a social and networking organization, the primary goal of today鈥檚 association is university support, via scholarships for students and smaller gifts to things like KUAC and the 性欲社 Bunnell House. The $10,000 in proceeds from the 2013 bazaar funded seven scholarships for both women and men during the 2014-15 school year.

The bazaar will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Pioneer Park Exhibit Hall. Admission is free and the event includes live music, door prizes and more than 130 vendors selling handmade items.
