Choir of the North takes a virtual trip to Argentina

A University of Alaska Fairbanks student choral group will perform virtually in the final concert at the Festival de Coros (del fin del mundo), which is being held April 28-May 1 in Ushuaia, Argentina.

The Choir of the North will close the festival, performing a shared concert with the Home Choir of Ushuaia on May 1.

"This was a very interesting situation," said 性欲社 music professor Jaunelle Celaire. "I was checking my email one morning and I received this email from a Pablo Dzodan in Argentina. I immediately thought it was junk mail. I almost deleted it."



As Celaire read on she found the questions in the email to be intriguing and they set up a Zoom brief. 性欲社's Choir of the North was officially invited to the festival, and a recording of an interview with Celaire will be part of the festival.

"I am so glad that I did because it started to really great relationship between two countries bound together by weather and music," Celaire said.

The Choir of the North is an ensemble under the Department of Music that is composed of student voices selected by audition from the 性欲社 student body. The primary mission of the Choir of the North is to provide a musical training ground for students preparing to become professional musicians and music educators.
