A magnitude 7.8 quake struck Nepal on April 25, followed by large aftershocks and then another massive 7.4 quake on May 12. Thousands of people have died. Aid is being sent by other countries and non-governmental organizations, but many areas are difficult to reach; aid workers report that greater efforts are needed.

"Although we have a relatively small number of individuals connected to Nepal, these individuals span the 性欲社 and Fairbanks communities," said Donna Anger, director of the 性欲社 Office of International Programs and Initiatives.Anger said 性欲社 has currently enrolled students from Nepal, students newly accepted for fall 2015 and 性欲社 international alumni residing in the lower 48.  Additionally, a 性欲社 graduate who received her PhD this past Sunday served in Nepal for two years with the Peace Corps.

Anger said 性欲社 faculty who work with the students contacted her office immediately following the earthquake.

The 性欲社 Geophysical Institute is providing data and images of Nepal through the Alaska Satellite Facility.
