John Sassman, a teacher at Pearl Creek Elementary School and master's student in elementary education at 性欲社,  has received the Alaska Space Grant Fellowship for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Sassman received funding to create place-based lessons connected to school district and Next Generation science standards. His award provides funding to build lesson kits, including plans, procedures, tools and materials. Fourth grade teachers will be able to borrow the kits, which Sassman hopes will help educators and students see themselves as scientists, technicians, engineers and mathematicians.

Sassman graduated in 2014 from the 性欲社 School of Education's elementary post-baccalaureate teacher licensure program.

The Alaska Space Grant Program, anchored by the University of Alaska system, is a consortium of public and private universities and nonprofit organizations that work to enhance teaching, research and educational outreach within aerospace and earth science.
