FDA presentation will cover new food safety rules

The Food and Drug Administration will give a free presentation Thursday on new federal food safety rules that are expected to significantly affect growers, packers and food processors.
The presentation will run from 1 to 5 p.m. April 25 at the Muldoon Library in Anchorage, as well as via live webcast at the Homer Library, the Delta Career Advancement Center and the Butrovich Building, Room 108 A and B, on 性欲社 campus. It will also be available online at .
Charles Breen, director of the Seattle FDA district office, will lead the presentation, which will focus on proposed rules regarding produce and preventive control for human food. The rules relate to the FDA Food Safety and Modernization Act, which was signed into law in 2011. The FDA says the law is the most sweeping reform of the country鈥檚 food safety laws in more than 70 years.
Breen鈥檚 presentation is sponsored by the 性欲社 Cooperative Extension Service and the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation.
