About 100 space scientists and researchers are expected to attend the American Geophysical Union's Chapman Conference on Magnetosphere Dynamics from Sept. 27 to Oct. 2 at the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel and Conference Center.

The conference will focus on Earth鈥檚 magnetospheric dynamics, including:

  • dynamics of geomagnetic storms and substorms.

  • the roles of reconnection in Earth鈥檚 magnetosphere.

  • the new results of the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission.

Jeffrey Freymueller, with the Geophysical Institute at 性欲社, and Syun-Ich Akasofu, with 性欲社 International Arctic Research Center, are highlighted speakers at the event's banquet. Freymueller will speak about "Measuring active tectonic and volcanic activity in Alaska." Akasofu will discuss "What I learned from auroral substorms."
