Students in the aviation maintenance program at 性欲社 Community and Technical College will now be able to immerse themselves in the industry they plan to serve.
性欲社 recently purchased a hangar on the east ramp of Fairbanks International Airport for the program. The new facility is larger and will allow students to work on a larger variety of aircraft.
鈥淭his move promises to increase industry partnerships, raise the relevance of instruction and make it much easier for 性欲社 CTC to offer and participate in more continuing education for existing aviation professionals and ultimately increase the level of service and responsiveness we can offer from the program.鈥 said Kevin Alexander, program head.
The hangar has nearly 12,000 square feet of finished and approximately 8,000 square feet of unfinished shop space within the structure.
The program is moving the larger aircraft from its current location at the Hutchison Institute of Technology on Geist Road to the newly acquired airport location this month. Renovations are expected to begin in September or October and students should begin taking classes in the new space during the spring 2013 semester.
Phase one of the renovations will upgrade the mechanical systems to meet efficiency standards and create classrooms. Some portions of the hangar, such as the paint booth and welding room, will not be finished until the second phase of renovations. Those courses will remain at Hutchison until the renovations are complete.
