November museum programs explore dinosaurs

A museum visitor touches a dinosaur skull cast, complete with teeth. The community is invited to explore fossils and more at Family Day: Dinosaurs on Saturday, Nov. 21.

The University of Alaska Museum of the North is offering hands-on programs during the month of November to explore dinosaurs.

At “Family Day: Dinosaurs” on Saturday, Nov. 21, from noon–4 p.m. visitors can go on a dino dig and make dinosaur tracks. There is no admission fee for children 14 and under, thanks to support from Saltchuk.

Other programs are included with admission. Early Explorers, for children five and under, meets each Friday from 10 a.m.–noon. Junior Curators, for kids six and up, is offered Saturdays from 2–4 p.m. The theme for Saturday, Nov. 7, is “Tracks,” and on Saturday, Nov. 14, visitors can learn about “Un-Dinosaurs,” the ancient marine reptiles that lived during the Age of Dinosaurs.
