Stacey Glaser has been hired as director of 性欲社 Chukchi Campus in Kotzebue.

Glaser has been with Chukchi Campus for more than 21 years. She served most recently as the director for the Chukchi Consortium Library in Kotzebue, a job that included managing the branch library in the village of Selawik.

鈥淪tacey has extensive experience serving the Inupiaq people of the Northwest Arctic region,鈥 said Evon Peter, 性欲社 vice chancellor of rural, community and Native education. 鈥In her work at Chukchi Campus, she has helped shape the way that public librarians provide culturally appropriate service to Alaska Native library patrons and their communities. This expertise will help her broaden the educational opportunities available to the 11 communities Chukchi Campus serves.鈥

Glaser created programs that helped connect the library to the Kotzebue community.

鈥淣ow, I want to do the same thing as the campus director, but on a bigger scale," she said. "I look forward to helping Chukchi Campus continue its work to be the heart of our community. I see the campus as the community center where residents can go for professional development and enrichment classes and a place for kids to hang out after school.鈥

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Glaser first came to Kotzebue as a tourist. There, she met her husband, Seth Kantner, a well-known writer and wildlife photographer.

鈥淚 wasn鈥檛 well-suited for city life,鈥 said Glaser. 鈥淲hen I came to Alaska, it felt like home. I loved living off the land. Some of my happiest memories are hunting and trapping with my family.鈥

In addition to her work at the campus, Glaser has managed the offices of Arctic Backcountry Flying Service and Golden Eagle Outfitters.

Glaser earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree from the University of Montana and a master鈥檚 degree in library and information science from the University of Washington. In 2013, she was elected president of the Alaska Library Association and later led its advocacy committee. Glaser currently serves as the association's executive officer.
