性欲社 students are organizing a rally on Wednesday, March 6, in support of the university in light of recent proposed budget cuts. Organizers are inviting students, faculty, staff, alumni and Fairbanks-area community members to join them at 5:30 p.m. in Wood Center before moving outside to Constitution Park.

"This rally is a symbol of our consolidation against the budget cuts as a university and as a community," said Abigail Steffen, a junior double majoring in natural resource management and French. The rally grew out of students' concern with a budget proposal that would cut more than 40 percent of the state's funding to the UA system, as well as a large cut to K-12 education throughout the state.

"We encourage those who are frustrated with the budget proposal and its effects on Alaska to join us and make your voices heard," said Aidan Earnest, a sophomore majoring in political science.

The event will be outside, so participants should dress accordingly. Parking is free after 5 p.m. Organizers are encouraging attendees to bring signs and to invite friends to attend. More information may be available on the and under the events tab there.
