Teaching Tip: Flipped classrooms

In a flipped classroom, lectures and instruction take place outside of synchronous class time, usually in the form of instructor videos or screencasts, while homework and group activities take place during class.

These tips are from �� faculty who are using the flipped method:

Start small; try flipping one lecture first.
Make sure there is a clear connection between out-of-class and in-class activities.
Ensure students come prepared by implementing a for-credit assessment at the start of class.
