UA Press Book Club: New selections for fall 2020
October 8, 2020

The UA Press Book Club begins a new reading journey on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. After a fruitful summer of synthesis thinking (recognizing links between unlike texts and experiences), the club will again simultaneously explore three different books. By reading a Pulitzer Prize-winning play, a literary historical thriller and an exercise in interspecies critical theory, we hope to discover surprising connections and challenging contradictions.
Join a conversation that will reach across genre, time period, topic and intellectual discipline! Readings for Tuesday, Oct. 13:
- 鈥,鈥 by Ayad Akhtar 鈥 鈥淥n Reading Plays,鈥 鈥淧roduction History,鈥 and Scene One
- 鈥,鈥 by Alexander Lernet-Holenia 鈥 Chapters 1-4 (pages 1-45)
- 鈥,鈥 by Donna Haraway 鈥 鈥淓mergent Naturecultures鈥 through 鈥淪pecies鈥 (pages 1-25)
The book club meets via Zoom every Tuesday at 7 p.m.
New participants are encouraged to . Questions and concerns should be directed to Nate Bauer at nbauer3@alaska.edu, who can also provide excerpted readings for the first week for anyone wishing to participate on a trial basis. Thanks for reading!
