Local coffee roasters will show off their specialty brews Friday, Nov. 21, at the 2014 Roast and Boast, an event organized by students in a University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Management marketing class.
The event will be from 5:30鈥7:30 p.m. at Northrim Bank鈥檚 Fairbanks Branch, 360 Merhar Avenue.
For the third year, the School of Management has partnered with Northrim Bank to host this community event, which features music, food and plenty of hot beverages.
Four coffee roasters will showcase their wares at the event: Alaska Coffee Roasting Co., Diving Duck, McCafferty鈥檚 Coffee House and North Pole Roasting Co. Great Harvest Bread Co., Gulliver鈥檚 Books and Take 5 Caf茅 and Bakery have donated gift certificates and baked goods for door prizes. The grand prize is an auto-start from Auto Trim Design.
Students in the Principles of Marketing class helped organize and market the event, gaining organizational management, budgeting, team building and event-planning experience.
鈥淚鈥檓 a civil engineering student minoring in business. In my work, I鈥檒l be organizing big things such as this event,鈥 said student Alex Springer. 鈥淚鈥檓 also a hands-on learner, so while talking about these things in class is one thing, going out and doing them is a lot more beneficial.鈥
