Week鈥檚 events: Engineering talk, optometry, Alaska berries, bagpipes

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting 40 free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what鈥檚 happening during the week ahead:

鈥 On Monday, July 22, the Down Memory Lane interview series will include a discussion with Doug Goering, retired dean of the 性欲社 College of Engineering and Mines and professor of mechanical engineering. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will conduct the interview, which will be at 7 p.m. in the Murie Building auditorium.
鈥 On Tuesday, July 23, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature optometrist Michael Mavencamp discussing 鈥淲hat to Expect in Aging Eyes.鈥 The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
鈥 On Wednesday, July 24, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Katie Spellman, research assistant professor at the 性欲社 International Arctic Research Center. Spellman will discuss 鈥淎laska鈥檚 Berries and their Changing Seasons.鈥 The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
鈥 On Thursday, July 25, the Music in the Garden concert series will host the Red Hackle Pipe Band. Music begins at 7 p.m. in the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
