Week鈥檚 events: Henrichs interview, travel health, Alaska history, vocal jazz

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what鈥檚 happening during the week ahead:


  • On Monday, July 23, the Down Memory Lane interview series will include a discussion with Provost Susan Henrichs, who is retiring this summer after 36 years at 性欲社. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will conduct the interview, which will be at 7 p.m. at the Elvey Building auditorium.

  • On Tuesday, July 24, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature physician assistant Dennis Rogers on 鈥淭ravel and Global Health: How to Stay Healthy and Alive When Traveling and Not Become a Victim or a Public Health Concern When Returning Home.鈥 The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.

  • On Wednesday, July 25, the Discover Alaska lecture series will present author and journalist Dermot Cole discussing "Alaska at a Crossroads: How the Struggle over the Permanent Fund Dividend Divides and Unites Alaskans." The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.

  • On Thursday, July 26, the Music in the Garden concert series will host Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival vocal jazz performers. Music begins at 7 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
