Week's events: archaeology, Native dance, cancer health, jazz

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what鈥檚 happening during the week ahead:

鈥 On Monday, July 11, The Magical Mondays hands-on learning series will feature 鈥淎rchaeology in Alaska鈥 by Scott Shirar, the archaeology collection manager at the University of Alaska Museum of the North. The program will begin at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium and atrium.

鈥 On Tuesday, July 12, the Healthy Living lecture series presents 鈥淐ancer, your immune system, nutrition and immunotherapy鈥 by oncology nurse Hannah Brice Smith. The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.

鈥 On Wednesday, July 13, the Discover Alaska series will host 鈥淯nderstanding Alaska Native dance鈥 by Sean Topkok, a 性欲社 assistant professor of education. The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.

鈥 On Thursday, July 14, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature the Fairbanks Community Jazz Band. The traditional big band features guest vocalists and soloists, with a mix of danceable swing-era tunes with Latin, bop and modern music influences. Music begins at 7 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
