Week鈥檚 events: linguistics, financial health, animal tracks, bluegrass

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting 40
free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what鈥檚 happening during
the week ahead:
On Monday, June 17, the Down Memory Lane interview series will include a discussion
with Larry Kaplan, professor emeritus of linguistics and former director of the Alaska
Native Language Center. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will conduct the interview,
which will be at 7 p.m. in the Murie Building auditorium.
On Tuesday, June 18, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature financial advisor
Ben Roth, who will discuss 鈥淲hat Does It Take to Be Financially Healthy?鈥 The lecture
will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
On Wednesday, June 19, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Mike Taras,
wildlife education and outreach specialist at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game,
on 鈥淩eading Nature鈥檚 Story: Interpreting Tracks and Signs of Alaska鈥檚 Wildlife.鈥 The
lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
On Thursday, June 20, the Music in the Garden concert series will host the Rock Bottom
Stompers, playing bluegrass and honky-tonk tunes. Music begins at 7 p.m. in the Georgeson
Botanical Garden.
