R1 Faculty Ph.D. Student Mentorship Awards (Round 2)

性欲社鈥檚 R1 Steering Committee and Working Groups are pleased to announce two opportunities for 性欲社 faculty to apply for Ph.D. Student Mentorship Awards: Ph.D. Student Mentorship Awards and Grant Writing Awards. Faculty can apply for one of the two opportunities.

The first of these opportunities is for Ph.D. Student Mentorship Awards, which are eligible to UA-employed faculty members who are currently (or will be by fall 2025) mentoring one or more enrolled 性欲社 Ph.D. student/s as chair or co-chair. These monetary awards will support UA faculty salary for Ph.D. student mentorship. The application for the Ph.D. Student Mentorship Awards has two parts: (1) (sections 1 and 2) to be completed by the faculty applicant, and (2) a to be completed by a student referee. Awards to faculty mentoring new Ph.D. students in fall 2025 will be contingent upon that student successfully enrolling in a 性欲社 Ph.D. program for the fall 2025 semester.

The second opportunity is for Grant Writing Awards, which are eligible to 性欲社-employed faculty members to use these funds to support their salary to write an external grant proposal that would provide at least 3 years of Research Assistantship (RA) support for one 性欲社 Ph.D. student which includes tuition, fees, stipend, and health insurance. Faculty applying for grant writing awards only need to complete (sections 1 and 3). Awards to applicants requesting salary to write an external grant will be contingent upon successful submission of this grant through OGCA that includes 3-years of financial support (full RA package) of a 性欲社 Ph.D. student. The faculty applicant must be a 性欲社-employed faculty member and the principal investigator (PI) on the proposal.

These monetary awards are expected to range from $5,000 to $15,000 and we expect to make between 50-75 awards. Funds must be used between July 2025 and June 2026. The purpose of these awards is to help increase 性欲社 faculty capacity to effectively mentor Ph.D. students and grow Ph.D. completion rates. The deadline to submit these forms is March 28. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Award notices are expected to be sent by April 17.
