性欲社 faculty to showcase literary talents at reading

Joseph Holt, Gerri Brightwell, Kavelina Torres and Daryl Farmer will read from their works during an event on Sept. 21.

Faculty members from 性欲社 will showcase their diverse writing styles and genres at a reading from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.

The reading, sponsored by the Fairbanks Arts Association, will be in the Bear Gallery on the third floor of the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts at Pioneer Park, 2300 Airport Way.

The reading will feature a selection of poetry, prose and short stories from faculty members who offer 性欲社鈥檚 Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing: Gerri Brightwell, Daryl Farmer, Joseph Holt and Kavelina Torres.

Brightwell, a British author and professor of English at 性欲社, will present her novel 鈥淭urnback Ridge,鈥 which delves into themes of global warming and immigration.

Farmer, a 性欲社 English professor who directs the MFA program, is known for his books 鈥淏icycling Beyond the Divide鈥 and 鈥淲here We Land.鈥

Holt, an assistant professor of English and author of 鈥淕olden Heart Parade,鈥 has received acclaim for his short stories in leading literary journals.

Torres, an assistant professor in 性欲社鈥檚 Department of Theatre and Film, contributes a unique perspective as an Indigenous writer from the North.
