Goat Project

The 4-H Goat project can incorporate any aspects of goat rearing; dairy, meat, and hair production for fiber.

Youth will learn about management, health, feeding, milking, fitting, breeding, pedigrees, quality assurance, genetics, national industry issues, and showing. Having a dairy goat, youth will learn about the dairy industry through ownership of and care for a dairy animal. In a 4-H Dairy Goat project, in addition to general care and health, you will to recognize various dairy breeds and learn about dairy products and how they are produced, packaged, and marketed. In a 4-H Meat Goat project, participants will learn the selection, breeding, feeding, and health fundamentals for meat animals.
