why ÐÔÓûÉç offers dual enrollment programs that let you
earn college credit while still enrolled in high school.

Talk to your parents and your high school counselor about this opportunity
Taking college classes while still in high school is a major decision. Discuss it with your parents and high school counselor to make sure you're ready to take on challenging — yet rewarding — opportunity. To receive high school credit, you will want to connect with your school district to get approval and determine what course(s) will fulfill high school credit.
Something else to ask yourself is whether you want to continue to college after graduation. A dual enrollment program can set you up for success, but you’ll want to take this specific classes based on your individual goals.
Complete the dual enrollment application if you haven’t taken classes at ÐÔÓûÉç before
New students to ÐÔÓûÉç should complete the . Select ÐÔÓûÉç as your campus, select a term (fall, spring or summer) and tell us about your academic history. If you can’t finish it all at once, you can always come back later. The application will take 1-3 business days to be processed and you will receive an email when it has been finalized with your next steps.
If you're interested in joining North Star College, you’ll apply through the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD) . North Star College will accept up to 90 juniors and 90 seniors for each school year.
Take your placement exams
You may need to take a placement exam if you're enrolling in a course that has a specific writing and/or math placement requirement. All math courses require the ALEKS math placement, and most science courses do as well. For writing placement, we require the EdReady writing placement or we can use SAT or ACT scores for placement. Both ALEKS and EdReady can be taken from home and are free.
Complete consent forms if under 18
If you're under 18, have your parent/guardian complete this consent form. They'll need to create a username and password to sign electronically. Or they can use this PDF version of the consent form and email a signed copy to uaf-registrar@alaska.edu. We won’t be able to register you for classes until this is received.
Register for classes
Many students choose from our list of General Education Requirement classes, but students can enroll in any class they meet the prerequisite for. We are also happy to help you with your course selection.
After receiving your admissions confirmation and University of Alaska ID number, set up your student account. Note that this is different from the account you created to apply to ÐÔÓûÉç. This is how you'll access any online courses you take, the student portal and your .
If you'd like to take your classes through the Alaska Advantage program, here's a list of eligible courses. For all other courses, do a class schedule search in your account.
Registration for the fall semester begins in April. Spring semester registration begins in November. Summer semester registration begins in February. Registering early will ensure your space in class.
Complete a FERPA release form
Completing a FERPA release form will allow the university to share ÐÔÓûÉç-related records (including billing) with your parents/guardians.
Order course materials and pay for your courses
The ÐÔÓûÉç Bookstore Bundle program makes getting your course materials more convenient and affordable. Students will automatically be enrolled in this program. The program provides all required textbooks, lab manuals and access codes. The program does not include consumables like lab kits. Order your required and/or course materials.
Also be sure to by the . You can stay on top of your account balance at . ÐÔÓûÉç does not mail bills or invoices, but does send notices to the student’s alaska.edu email account.
If a school district or home school network is paying the student’s bill, students or parents need to contact their counselor or teacher and the ÐÔÓûÉç Office of the Bursar Third-Party Billing office to ensure payment has been made.
