Emergency Funds

Institute of Arctic Biology/Dept. of Biology & Wildlife BioCares Fund
The BioCares fund is established to provide financial support for graduate students and staff members of the Department of Biology and Wildlife and Institute of Arctic Biology. Its purpose is to alleviate the burden of unanticipated expenses, such as an emergency medical or dental bill, travel in response to a family medical emergency, or emergency housing displacement that fall beyond the scope of one’s personal resources.

The Care Fund is not intended to cover regular costs associated with a students’ graduate work (e.g; fees, textbooks, computers, travel to conferences or fieldwork), routine medical/wellness care, or standard living expenses.

Applicants may request up to $2,000, as funds allow, for themselves or another IAB/Dept. of Biology & Wildlife graduate student or staff member. Please provide as much detail as possible about the cost, as funds will be provided for the exact cost of services/needs. Requests should be made within three months that expenses were incurred.
 
 
ÐÔÓûÉç Student Support Fund
The Student Support Fund is a one time opportunity to provide financial assistance to students in need due to extenuating circumstances and when all other options are exhausted. The fund is designated to off-set a short-term financial need and is not intended to replace or supplement financial aid.
